What Fall Can Teach Us About Change And Happiness

Fall/Autumn is one of the more noticeable periods of change in nature. Leaves turn a majestic range of colours and fall within a matter of weeks. With the gradual passing of Fall as we transition to Winter, the now bare foliage is a stark contrast to what once was a few weeks ago.

Fall is a perfect example of transience. The fleeting nature of life. Here we can draw a parallel to the illusion of permanence which lies at the core of most of our suffering. We hold onto things hoping they will never change or will last forever. Our beliefs, relationships, health, roles in life, material possessions hardly escape the grasp of our attachments.

Nature doesn’t hold onto what once was. It offers us the beautiful foliage for a time then transitions to the next phase. If trees held onto their Fall leaves the tree would eventually die.

When we hold onto change, we go against the flow and life becomes that much harder as we create a lot of unnecessary suffering within ourselves. Learning how to live and flow with the transience and fleeting nature of everything in life, is a path that will truly invite greater happiness, inner peace & fulfillment into our life.

Subconscious belief systems drive our thoughts, emotions and actions hence influencing our attachments to things in life.

What changes are you resisting or refusing to let go of?
